Rhyming Couplet

Couplet poems are one of the shortest forms of traditional poetry and have been around since the fifteenth century. The couplet has a single stanza of two lines. Typically, the pair of lines will rhyme and have the same meter. They make up a unit or complete thought.

Lightening, thunder, all around
Soon the rain falls on the ground

Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind;
And therefore is winged Cupid painted blind.
